Blower Door Test

Whether you're a builder or a home owner, we are here to make your blower door test as smooth as possible. Our technicians are trained to not just determine a pass/fail grade, but also diagnose where the problem areas are and offer solutions to remedy them. We will work with you every step of the way, from initial testing to final repairs, so you can pass your final inspection or simply save money on energy.

A blower door test is mandatory for code compliance in new construction and additions over 450 sqft; it's the last step before your final inspection. If you don't pass your blower door test, you don't pass your inspection.

What is a blower door test and why do I need one?

The number one cause of energy loss is air leakage. It doesn't matter how well insulated your home is, if there are any leaks in your home, you'll have cold spots and air leakage. A blower door test determines where the air leaks and drafts are in your home so you can repair them.

You need a blower door test if you are doing new construction (and want to pass your final inspection), or you want to properly insulate and seal your home to save on your energy bill.

Can you smell smoke inside your home when there are wildfires outside or your neighbor is barbecuing? If so, that means you have air leaks and the quality of the air in your home is compromised. Protect yourself and your loved ones by sealing the air leaks.

What is code compliance?

WA state energy code requires that all new construction (and additions over 450 sqft) pass a blower door test in order for an inspector to sign off on your final inspection. No blower door test, no passed home inspection.
